Mandalas are a piece of art that comprises of geometrical patterns that can symbolize flow in a cyclical nature. In Sanskrit, mandalas mean circle, which can represent the universe, community or an environment.
The symbolization of a mandala is repeated patterns or symbols with a central focal point to figuratively represent the connection between the internal and external. The earliest evidence of Mandala dates back to 1000 BC in Hindu and Buddhist philosophical teachings. Mandala making is an extremely creative process that encompasses repetitive motions which in turn helps the mind to quiet down and concentrate to best create intricate pieces of art.
My Art Pieces
As a person of Indian heritage I was gravitated to the beauty and vibrant colors of the Mandalas when I was first introduced to it. Coming from a design background the visual appeal made me research more on Mandalas, which later let me try my hands on creating one. The creative process to me was very relaxing and brought a sense of calm, in spite of the process being tedious and very detailed. I could clearly identify the flow of the process and how captivating it was.
I term my pieces Indo - Western as it best represents me as a person, my creative process and my educational background. Each piece is unique in its own way and no two pieces look the same.
I hope my art pieces bring you the exact joy I experience in creating them!
